Description
This is a sources sought announcement seeking responses in order to determine vendor participation in the acquisition. If a solicitation is issued it will be announced at a later date, and all interested parties must respond to that solicitation announcement separately from the responses to this announcement. No reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing information in response to this announcement. Responses should be sent to thomas.sexton.4@us.af.mil and christian.hull@us.af.mil SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS: •· Shield must provide head to toe protection in a mobile platform. •· Shield must be operational in harsh weather conditions to include extreme cold and hot environments. •· Must have at least 5 square feet of viewable transparent armor which is user replaceable without tools. Available in up to 12 square feet of viewing area. •· Must have 6.8 square feet of opaque armor steel which is user replaceable without tools. •· Must provide over-lapping protection between the transparent and opaque armor for gap prevention. •· Shield must be able to size up to 48" wide to 84" high. Minimum measurements 36" wide x 72" high x 32" deep. •· Must be NIJ Level III and Department of State Standard 01.01 certified as a system. Independent testing laboratory certification documentation provided with the quote. •· Must provide Department of State part numbers with quote. •· Must have solid ATV style tires and transportable over unimproved surfaces with a vehicle with a ball or pintle adaptor hitch. •· Must weigh at least 600 pounds to optimize protection from blast, back pressure, wind loading factor of safety, and secondary fragmentation. •· Shield must have the following available accessories which could be purchased in the future; rear swivel casters, towbar, weather resistant awning, ballistic resistant awning, heater, long range acoustic device, searchlight, weapons mounts, and armor strip to connect multiple shields without a vulnerability gap. •· Two stage powder coating process using a zinc rich primer to help prevent rust and corrosion. Tested to ASTM 117-90 Salt Spray Resistant - 2000 hours minimal undercutting and zero blistering. •· Must provide product past performance and recent customer list.
