- Description
- The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Atmospheric Turbulance & Diffusion Division (ATDD) Oak Ridge, TN., intend to award a purchase order to Aventech Research Inc., for an ARIM200 Digital Air Data Probe. The Aventech probe measures, temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, angle of attack pressure, angle of slip pressure, pitot static pressure, and acceleration in 3 dimensions. From these values they also calculate and provide TAS, three dimensional winds, and barometric altitude, the data can be output at a rate of 50hz. There are no other probes available that measure all of these quantities and calculate these values. Normally a separate probe would be required for each of the following, temperature, pitot static, angle of attack, angle of slip, and humidity. Three dimensional acceleration is not available in a probe and would require a different sensor. In addition to saving the costs of additional probes, sensors and their installation cost, this system calculates the parameters that are of the most meteorological value saving the one-time cost of custom data analysis and calibration, and the everyday use cost of implementing a data system to calculate these values. Aventech Research Inc is the only known company that can provide this probe that will meet the Government's needs. The only alternative to this probe is to install independent probes to measure the same quantity which is not be cost effective to the government. The NAICS code for this action is 334519. Size standard not to exceed 1000 employees. This support service is being procured under the guidelines of FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures and Part 12 Commercial Items. The Eastern Region Acquisition Division (ERAD) requires that all contractors doing business with the Acquisition Office must be registered with the Systems for Award Management (SAM). No award can be made unless the vendor is registered in SAM. For additional information and to register in please access the following website: http://www.sam.gov/. In order to register with the SAM and to be eligible to receive an award from this acquisition office, all offerors must have a Dun & Bradstreet Number. A Dun & Bradstreet number may be acquired free of charge by contacting Dun & Bradstreet on-line at https://www.dnb.com/product/eupdate/requestOptions.html or by phone at (800) 333-0505. The Government now requires all contractors submit their Certification and Representation SAM. The SAM website is the single source for vendor data for the Federal Government. Interested parties can provide a quote by the closing date and submit it to, Attn: Sharon Walker by fax (757-664-3845) or via email, referencing the notice by the closing date on the sources sought.
