- Description
- The radioisotope identifier should be able to provide identification of nuclides based on a spectra counting time of 5 minutes. The identification report must be immediately visible on the screen of the unit, with clear information regarding the isotope, confidence level, and peak energy. The unit must be compliant with ANSI N42.34. Desired Specifications: -Battery Life: 8-12 hours, rechargeable -Alarms: Audible and visual required -Display: LCD screen, preferably 4" hypotenuse for optimal viewing -Detector Energy Range: 20 keV to 3 MeV -Library/Trigger List: Common isotopes (ie, Cs-137, Co-60, Na-22, Mn-54, etc) with possibly to expand/develop -Operating Temperature: 40 F - 100 F, unlikely to be used in extreme weather conditions -Background subtraction required -Warranty: 3 year, include calibrations, any firmware/software updates, as well as optimization. Evaluation Factors are the following: Identification Performance - Performs similar to or better than current DigiDart NaI detector in lab setting. Robust isotope library or trigger lists readily available (that is, how many isotopes can the unit uniquely identify. Durable - Is unit NIMA-rated? Has it been tested for weather, instrument abuse, etc? Ergonomics - weight of instrument (will be carried in the field, may be held for ~5 minutes per shot), location of handle, portability. Ease of use for field work/true working conditions - Can unit be used with gloves? Is screen easy to use in the sun?
