Description

The Buffalo VAMC, Buffalo NY, Research Department has a requirement to purchase instrumentation capable of extracellular flux analysis, specifically, the Seahorse Bioscience XFe24 and XFeP Extracellular Flux Analyzers.. This is not a solicitation announcement. This is a sources sought synopsis only. The purpose of this synopsis is to gain knowledge of potential qualified sources and their size classification (large business, small business, 8(a), SDVOSB, etc.), relative to NAICS code 334516 (size standard of 500 employees). Responses to this synopsis will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions. Based on responses to this synopsis, the Government may issue this RFQ as a Brand Name or Equal requirement in accordance with VAAR Clause 852.211-73, with Seahorse Bioscience as the Brand Name Manufacturer. The System includes the following specifications: System Description and Use The equipment brand name or equal to the XFe24 and XFeP Extracellular Flux Analyzers must be able to simultaneously interrogate the two major energy producing pathways of the cell - mitochondrial respiration and glycolysis - in a microplate in real-time. It must be able to determine in vitro oxygen consumption rate (OCR), and extracellular acidification rate (ECAR), in order to assess cellular functions such as oxidative phosphorylation, glycolysis, and fatty acid oxidation. The brand name or equal equipment must contain the following salient features: Brand Name or Equal Seahorse XFe24 Extracellular Flux Analyzer "Utilize a 96-well plate format (8 or 16 wells at a time) "Allows easy and quick assessment of small sample sets or limited amounts per sample, such as mitochondrial extracts from experimental animals or patient samples, making it convenient for pairwise comparisons, phenotyping, pilot experiments, iterative assay design and condition optimizing. "Have the capability to analyze metabolic pathways and cellular respiration within living cells or tissue extracts. Brand Name or Equal Seahorse XFe24 and XFeP Extracellular Flux Analyzers "Must be able to simultaneously interrogate the two major energy producing pathways of the cell - mitochondrial respiration and glycolysis - in a microplate in real-time. "Must be able to determine in vitro oxygen consumption rate (OCR), and extracellular acidification rate (ECAR), in order to assess cellular functions such as oxidative phosphorylation, glycolysis, and fatty acid oxidation.
