The termination kits shall meet IEEE standard 48 class 1, and consist of a tubular insulator, high dielectric constant stress control tube, conformable high dielectric stress controlling compound and built in environmental top sealing compound. The insulator shall have strong tracking resistance and hydrophobic properties. The kit shall include a braided ground strap for each conductor termination. The materials in the kit must be compatible with ethylene propylene rubber (EPR). They must have a cable insulation O.D. range of 0.44" - 0.89" and 0.83" - 1.53". Recommended part #'s 3M-Cold-Shrink-QT-III-Silicone-Rubber-Termination-Kit-7621-T-9 3M-Cold-Shrink-QT-III-Silicone-Rubber-Termination-Kit-7624-T-95 Product total quantities required: (4) #2awg termination kits with each kit containing enough material to terminated 3 individual conductors with individual grounding straps. (16) 350mcm termination kits with each kit containing enough material to terminated 3 individual conductors with individual grounding straps. The wire sizes listed shall protect loads totaling 45amps and 415amps respectively therefore the size of the conductor may be reduced from the size specified if the cable will adequately handle the listed loads. For the 45amp load, a #2awg cable is specified and for the 415amp load, a #350kcmil cable is specified. If the cable size is to be reduced, the cable termination kits shall be reduced also to match the cable. Three conductors of the #2awg wire must be able to fit in a 2-1/2" Rigid Metal Conduit per NFPA 70. Three conductors of the #350kcmil wire must be able to fit in a 3-1/2" Rigid Metal Conduit per NFPA 70. The publications are referred to in the text by the basic designation only. NFPA 70 UL 1072 - Medium Voltage Power Cables ICEA S-93-639 (NEMA WC 74) ICEA S-97-682 UL 1685 - (AWG 1/0 and larger) - UL-CT Flame Exposure Test. IEEE 1202/FT4 - Flame Test (70,000 Btu/hr Vertical Tray Test) AEIC CS-8 NEMA WC 70 AEIC CS6 RoHS Standard Products Provide materials and equipment that are products of manufacturers regularly engaged in the production of such products which are of equal material, design and workmanship. Products shall have been in satisfactory commercial or industrial use for two years. The 2-year period shall include applications of equipment and materials under similar circumstances and of similar size. The product shall have been on sale on the commercial market through advertisements, manufacturers' catalogs, or brochures during the 2-year period. Where two or more items of the same class of equipment are required, these items shall be products of a single manufacturer; however, the component parts of the item need not be the products of the same manufacturer unless stated in this Section. Alternative Qualifications Products having less than a 2-year field service record will be acceptable if a certified record of satisfactory field operation for not less than 6,000 hours, exclusive of the manufacturers' factory or laboratory tests, is furnished. Material and Equipment Manufacturing Date Products manufactured more than three years prior to date of delivery to site shall not be used, unless specified otherwise. WARRANTY The equipment items shall be supported by service organizations which are reasonably convenient to the equipment installation in order to render satisfactory service to the equipment on a regular and emergency basis during the warranty period of the Contract MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT Materials, equipment, and devices shall, as a minimum, meet requirements of UL, where UL standards are established for those items, and requirements of NFPA 70. DELIVERY Furnish cables on reels or coils. Each cable and the outside of each reel or coil, shall be plainly marked or tagged to indicate the cable length, voltage rating, conductor size, and manufacturer's lot number and reel number. Each coil or reel of cable shall contain only one continuous cable without splices. Reels shall remain the property of the Contractor. The required overall length of each size of wire shall be cut into cable lengths and spolled onto individual reels for delivery by the manufacturer or supplying vendor. Both ends of each cable cut length shall be protected from moisture entry in the same manner as was delivered by the manufacturer or by installing a 1' section of heat shrink containing internal adhesive on the end and crimped to form a end cap. The supplying vendor shall guarantee integrity of the cable after any cutting and re-spooling of the cable to insure that no damage occurred during the cutting and spooling process. All spare cable remaining from a manufacturer's minimum order requirements shall be spooled onto one reel and be of one continuous length, shall be protected from moisture for storage, and shall have remaining footage marked on the reel. Rated Circuit Voltages All wire and cable shall have minimum rated circuit voltages in accordance with Table 3-1 of NEMA WC 70 or NEMA WC 74. Material W9127N-15-Q-0054 Page 38 of 38 Conductors shall conform to all the applicable requirements of Section 2 of NEMA WC 70 or NEMA WC 74, as applicable, and shall be annealed copper. Copper conductors may be bare, or tin- or lead-alloy-coated, if required by the type of insulation used. Stranding Conductor stranding classes cited herein shall be as defined in Appendix G of NEMA WC 70 or Appendix H of NEMA WC 74. Insulation 5 kV Shielded Power Cables. The 5 kV shielded power cables shall be provided with 133 percent insulation level. It shall be UL Type MV-105. Thickness of insulation shall be in accordance with Table 4-1 of NEMA WC 74 and Table B1 of AEIC CS6, as applicable. (3) Insulation Shielding. Unless otherwise specified, insulation shielding shall be provided for conductors having rated circuit voltages of 2,001 volts and above. The voltage limits above which insulation shielding is required, and the material requirements, are given in Section 5 of NEMA WC 74, as applicable. The material, if thermosetting, shall meet the wafer boil test requirements as described in Section D of AEIC CS6, as applicable. The method of shielding shall be in accordance with the current practice of the industry; however, the application process shall include strict precautions to prevent voids or contamination between the insulation and the nonmetallic component. Voids, protrusions, and indentations of the shield shall not exceed the maximum allowances specified in Section C of AEIC CS6, as applicable. The cable shall be capable of operating without damage or excessive temperature when the shield is grounded at both ends of each conductor. All components of the shielding system shall remain tightly applied to the components they enclose after handling and installation in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. Shielding systems which require heat to be removed will not be permitted unless specifically approved. Marking shall be in accordance with Section 8 of NEMA WC 74 and Section H of AEIC CS6, as applicable. Dimensional Tolerance The outside diameters of single-conductor cables shall not vary more than 5 percent and 10 percent, respectively, from the manufacturer's published catalog data.
