Description
1.Perform all grading for the preparation of the interior concrete slabs and driveways. Prepare subgrade and compact to 95% modified proctor density. a.Laboratory and testing facilities must be provided by and at the expense of the Contractor. i.Field Density Testing 1.Perform at least one compaction test every 2000 square feet under areas receiving concrete. 2.Provide a vapor barrier at both interior slabs. Comply with ASTM E1745 Class C polyethylene sheeting, minimum 10 mil thickness with a maximum permeance rating of 0.04 perms per ASTM E96/E96M. 3.Provide expansion joints between the new slab and existing footings. Joint filler material shall meet ASTM D1751 or ASTM D1752 Type I or II, 1/2 inch thick, extending full slab depth. Install filler strips at proper level below finish floor elevation. 4.Detail the reinforcing and all concrete to support the loads of the Oshkosh Defense - Logistics Vehicle System Replacement Model (LVSR) MKR18 Cargo Vehicle and Toyota Forklift Truck model 8FDU30 for structure 811T. Detail the reinforcing and all concrete to support the loads of the LARC V for structure 364T. See Attachment 2 for existing structure details and Attachment 3 for equipment loading specifications. a.Provide two reinforced concrete slabs within the limits of the existing footings at sprung shelters 364T and 811T. Provide steel troweled finish in accordance with ACI 301 Section 5. Match the elevation of the existing footings. b.Provide reinforced concrete driveway ramps up to the vehicular openings at each end of shelter 364T. The northwestern driveway is to be 12 feet wide by 35 feet long. Slope concrete slightly away from the building. The southeastern driveway is to be 12 feet wide by 40 feet long. Slope concrete of the southeastern driveway from existing grade up to the entrance of shelter. Finish concrete in accordance with ACI 301 Section 5 for a broomed finish. c.Provide reinforced concrete driveway ramps up to the openings at each end of shelter 811T. The northwest driveway is to be 12 feet wide and is to be extended to the adjacent road. The eastern driveway is to be 12 feet wide by 25 feet long. Slope concrete away from shelter. Finish concrete in accordance with ACI 301 Section 5 for a broomed finish. i.Concrete laboratory and testing facilities must be provided by and at the expense of the Contractor. The third party laboratories performing the tests must be accredited in accordance with ASTM C1077, including ASTM C78/C78M and ASTM C1260. Collect samples of fresh concrete to perform tests specified in accordance with ASTM C31/C31M for making test specimens. 1.Compressive Strength Tests a.ASTM C39/C39M. Make 4 inch by 8 inch test cylinders for each set of tests in accordance with ASTM C31/C31M, ASTM C172/C172M and applicable requirements of ACI 305R and ACI 306R. Take precautions to prevent evaporation and loss of water from the specimen. Test two cylinders at 7 days, one cylinder at 28 days, hold one cylinder in reserve. Concrete compressive tests must meet the requirements of ACI 318 Section 5.6. Collect samples for test cylinders for every 40 cubic yards delivered. 2.Slump Tests a.ASTM C143/C143M. Take concrete samples during concrete placement/discharge. The maximum slump may be increased as specified with the addition of an approved admixture provided that the water-cement ratio is not exceeded. Perform tests at commencement of concrete placement, when test cylinders are made, and for each batch (minimum) or every 40 cubic yards (maximum) of concrete. 3.Temperature Tests a.Test the concrete every 40 cubic yards delivered or whenever test cylinders and slump tests are made. 5.Provide expansion joints and saw cut joints to control cracking in accordance with ACI 301 Section 5. 6.Cure all concrete in accordance with ACI 308.1.
