Description
J&A for Mod 18 This is an in-scope construction contract modification under an open construion task order P14PD00557 (expires December 3, 2015) award under a now expired Base IDIQ contract F09PC60441 (expired June 9, 2015). a. RFP 55 - Submetering RFP 55 - Submetering is required by a National Park Service Director's Order. The purpose is to provide electric metering for each individual building on new or renovation projects. Doing so provides NPS with the capability of monitoring power use which can be used in strategic planning and building management. b. RFP 63 - Remove House Keeping Pads in former Power House Electric Room The former electric room in the Power House first floor is being repurposed to accommodate the U.S. Park Police gym. It is required that the NPS provide the USPP a gym. The former gym space has been repurposed for use as the new electrical room. The former electrical room has been identified as the new USPP gym space. The space has two large housekeeping pads. In order for the floor to be useable, the pads must be removed and the floor repaired. c. RFP 64 - Remove 3 existing power lines and all wiring, conduit and appurtenances There are 3 abandoned power lines with two located along the north ferry slip and the third at the south side of the slip. The power lines, conduit and appurtenances are no longer in use and should be removed for aesthetic, safety and to eliminate any future interference with ground work. The time to do so is now before the new sod is in place. d. RFP 65 - Power House East Sidewalk As part of this project we are adding an Exhibit Lab/Workshop in the Power House first floor east (former incinerator space). The park will use the east entrance to bring in supplies and move exhibits to and from. From time to time they will be using small, powered moving equipment which require a solid surface able to handle the equipment load. A sidewalk will also prevent mud and dirt from being tracked into the space. e. RFP 67 - MIB Concessions Space Doors The Main Immigration Building basement, east end, is space is provided to the concessioner for storage and office space. This space will, shortly, be turned over to the concessioner. In two locations, therefore, there is an immediate need to install doors in order to secure the area. f. RFP 69 - Reroute Duct at Refrigerator/Freezer Duct work is interfering with the door operation to the Refrigerator/Freezer. In order for the door to open, the duct must be rerouted. RFP 70 - Provide 5-inch floor for Refrigerator/Freezer The standard, factory supplied floor thickness for the walk in refrigerator/freezer units is 4 inches. The existing floor, where the units sit, has a 5 inch depression. Therefore, in order for the refrigerator/freezer floor to be flush with the finished floor, a special order floor has to be installed. g. RFP 71 - Power House Incinerator Room First Floor This RFP is to restore the Power House incinerator room floors to a useable condition. This space will be used as a workshop for the park exhibit operations. The existing floor has curbs, pits and concrete pads which must be repaired and then the floor will be leveled. h. RFP 72 - Power House Stair Rail Infill The work of previous RFP 47 added a stair with handrail from the second floor electrical room to the mechanical platform. In order to accommodate the new platform and stair, a section of railing was removed from the platform. After installation of the platform and stair, it was realized that the space under the stair had no railing for fall protection. Therefore, the contractor had to fabricate and install a railing in that area.
