Description

This is a Synopsis for Commercial services in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) subpart 12.6 and subpart 5.207. This notice does not in itself represent the issuance of a formal request for proposal/quote and is not intended to be taken as such. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of Acquisition Operations, Technology Acquisition Center (TAC), located at 23 Christopher Way, Eatontown, NJ 07724 intends to award a firm-fixed-price contract, issued on a sole source basis for continued use of existing dark fiber optic connections between buildings located throughout the Pittsburgh Healthcare System. The existing dark fiber network supporting information technology system communications across the Pittsburgh Health Care System is owned, managed and maintained by DQE Communications located at 411 Seventh Ave 15th floor, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (PA) 15219. The period of performance shall be 12 months from February 1, 2016 through January 31, 2017 followed by three 12-month option periods. The Statutory Authority for this effort falls under Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 6.302-1 entitled, "Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements." The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code for this effort is 517110 which has a small business size standard of 1,500 employees. The anticipated award date is January 15, 2016. This notification shall close on January 7, 2016.
