Description
Plastic Pouch Images The Project Director for Joint Services, Picatinny, NJ, is conducting a Market Survey to locate potential manufacturers to produce a highly puncture resistant vacuum sealed barrier bag/pouch for clipped 5.56mm ammunition. This barrier bag/pouch will consist of three, ten-round clips of 5.56mm ammunition, with thirty-five of these bags/pouches packaged into a metal container. The barrier bags may be individual units, perforated strips, or some other configuration. Potential suppliers would be responsible for: providing material candidates and their costs; determining the best commercial fabrication method and its cost; the unit cost of the barrier bag/pouch itself. The projected production rate is 160,000 pouches per month. The proposed fabrication method must be able to keep up with these production quantities. Automation friendly production is desirable. All design concepts will be considered. SPECIFICATIONS: This item shall be manufactured to minimum inner dimensions 4" L x 2.5" W x 1" H Desired maximum dimension are 5.5" L x 4" W x 1.1" H Highly puncture resistant Material proposed must be transparent to be able to see the ammunition Material proposed must be water vapor proof Material proposed must be able to withstand -65°F to +160°F Ammunition must be able to be accessed by hand, not using any other tools or equipment (Adding a tear tab to the design, being able to peel the seals open, etc.) Designs can be flexible or rigid The maximum sealing heat allowed is 662°F All interested firms and manufacturers, regardless of size are encouraged to respond to this request for information including current product literature, illustrations, drawings and relevant company background/experience. Information submissions should include available technology and equipment, facilitation costs, amortization schedule, raw material costs per unit, and final burdened unit costs. All information supplied will be considered company proprietary, unless otherwise specified by the company or available from other sources without restriction. Please include company name, address, telephone number, email address, technical point of contact, Cage Code, Company Size (please specify as either Large, Foreign, Small, Small Disadvantaged, 8(a), Woman-Owned Small Business, Historically Underutilized Business Zone concern, Veteran-Owned Small Business, or Service-Disabled Small Business), brochures/literature. This Sources Sought Notice is for informational and planning purposes only; it does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP), and is not to be construed as a commitment by the U.S. Government. The U.S. Government implies no intention or opportunity to acquire funding to support current or future efforts. If a formal solicitation is generated at a later date, a solicitation notice will be published. No award will be made as a result of this market survey. All information is to be submitted at no cost or obligation to the Government. The Government reserves the right to reject, in whole or in part, any private sector input as a result of this market survey.
