- Description
- ** Please see below vendor questions and technical representatives answers. Also bid will be extended until 1/19/2016, All quotes must be received by 1/19/2016 3:00pm EST. 1) #11 on section "Building 2112), it says"Remove and hall away all unused legacy cabling that is no longer in use throughout the entire building." According the site visit only cables being removed are from within the area of Rooms 1, 5, 5a, 13 and to SIPR cabinet. There are no asbuilts or any other information on other existing cabling throughout building. Please advise A: Pretty straight forward, we are asking that you remove all cable not in use. The purpose of the walkthrough was so that the vendors would understand the scope of what they have to remove. We do not have any quantifiable information to provide such as length of the existing fiber, quantity, etc. They are legacy cables that have existed before TSD was a tenant. 2) On #2-Cabling it says "At the SIPR cabinet, the cables will be dressed into a new 2U fiber enclosure and connected to new 6-ST coupler panels", however because they are ST connectors a 2U rack will only hold 6 (6-ST panels) so that means only 36 ST terminations can be done. However if seems you have a total of 90 connections to do at SIPR cabinet. My recommendation is to do either a 3U(which holds up to 72 connections) and 2U. Please advise A: We have sufficient free space in the cabinet to support a 3U+2U configuration. 4) On building 2112 section it says there are a total of 11 FTTD to accomodate workstations, however the above in Statement of work it says there are a total of 15 drops? Can you advise which is the correct number of drops? A: 15 is a typo. 11 is stated at item number 2 (under 'Building 2112') and the total of the drops provided by item number 4 (in the same section) backs up the total of 11. 1) It was mentioned at meeting that the number of strands on fiber cable would change. Is it still OM-1 (6 strand) Plenum? A: Yes we are still asking for OM-1 (6 strand) plenum rated cable in EMT conduit. 2) It is our understanding based on scope that we are to install/terminate the fiber adapters and wallplates. Patch cords, computer equipment or transceivers or anything above that is not in our scope. Just wanted to confirm? A: The vendor is responsible for installing and terminating each fiber strand at each end (the wall plates in the offices and the patch panel inside the safe, room 13). No patch cords, equipment or transceivers, is required by the vendor. Just the cabling runs. 3) Is there an approximate number of non-operating/new junction boxes that will be required? A: we will require 6 new junction boxes within room 5, 1 new junction box in room 1.
