- Description
- Michael E. DeBakey VAMC Houston TX VA Research Department has a requirement to purchase a Zeno 3 Layer Walkway (Brand Name or Equal) equipment to measure gait and its variability along with using this equipment to analyze gait. This is not a solicitation announcement. This is a sources sought synopsis only. The purpose of this synopsis is to gain knowledge of potential qualified sources and their size classification (large business, small business, 8(a), SDVOSB, etc.), relative to NAICS code 334516 (size standard of 500 employees). Responses to this synopsis will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions. Based on responses to this synopsis, the Government may issue this RFQ as a Brand Name or Equal requirement in accordance with VAAR Clause 852.211-73. The vendor must be able to supply brand name or equal instrumentation to meet the following specifications: REQUIRED PRODUCTS & SPECIFICATIONS - Brand Name or Equal The Zeno Walkway (Brand name or equal), ProtoKinetics Movement Analysis Software (PKMAS) (Brand name or equal), Training and Installation Product Capabilities "The electronic walkway for gait measure must have electronics and sensing technology that achieve superior sensitivity and linearity and be capable of assessing various mobility tasks, which include the following-- 1.Walking (up to 20 feet) 2.Running 3.Hopping 4.Turning task 5.Timed Up and Go test (TUG) 6.6-minute walk test "In order to prevent patients from tripping and falling during mobility tests, the walkway must be designed to prevent the edges from curling so that the flat testing surface can be used safely when patients walk with walking devices (e.g. walkers, wheeled walker and canes). The electronic walkway must have three layers with linoleum top cover (or something equivalent) to protect the electronics and sensors from damages. "The electronic walkway must have movement analysis software to instantly calculate the estimated Center of Mass (CoMe) as a postural instability indicator which is easy to use in clinical research and does not require extensive set-up. "The movement analysis software must be capable of measuring Symmetry of Propulsion (SoP) with graphical display. SoP illustrates the relationship between single leg support (one leg on the ground by itself) and double leg support (both feet on the ground). "The movement analysis software must be capable of capturing and calculating Center of Pressure (COP) of the single leg COP and the stance COP and display in a way that can be readily understand by the users. "The electronic walkway and its movement analysis software must be capable of measuring transitional movements in a single test. It must require no editing and is easy to administer. The generated data must be available immediately after the patient testing is completed. The electronic walkway and its movement analysis software must be capable of measuring balance and postural control including Romberg, Limit of Stability (LOS), Tandem stance, Sit to stand task and Single leg stance. "The vendor must provide a portable computer to be use only with the walkway system, provide installation of the software, training session and technical supports. Performance Period: The Gait Measurement equipment should be delivered within 90 calendar days of award, unless otherwise specified at time of order.
