Description

Hotel Accommodations for Veteran Research Participants at the War Related Illness and Injury Study Center (WRIISC) Background Veterans from out-of-state are interested to participate in research opportunities being offered at the WRIISC, VA New Jersey Health Care System (VA NJHCS). There are many Veterans who suffer from chronic multi-symptom illnesses and the WRIISC is at the forefront of trying to understand these illnesses through its research. However, because of distance, Veterans who are interested and participate in our research find it difficult to travel the same day home. Scope The goal of this project is to provide out-of-state Veterans a place to stay while they participate in research at the VA NJHCS. This will also provide them the opportunity to have their health care concerns addressed while at the hospital. Having hotel accommodations will allow the Veterans to minimize travel strains, address health concerns, and participate in multiple research studies, as applicable. Period of contract: Date of Award to September 30, 2016 with two(2) option years. Specific Tasks For Veterans who participate in research studies at the WRIISC and require to stay overnight(s), the hotel will: "Provide approximately or up to 75 nights of standard room accommodations; "Provide standard room accommodations; "If needed, provide accessible room accommodations for Veterans with disabilities; "Provide free shuttle service from/to the hotel to/from the VANJHCS before (if needed) and after Veteran's participation; Room accommodations will be paid for by the WRIISC.
