- FedBizOpps Presolicitation Notice Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA), on behalf of the Gemini Observatories, is seeking to award a multi- year contract to design, procure/manufacture, build, assemble, characterize, conduct pre-delivery acceptance tests, document, deliver, integrate, perform post-delivery acceptance tests, and commission a highly efficient spectrograph that has broad scientific appeal to be used with the Gemini telescopes and that maintains the existing 8-m aperture advantage. The solicitation will be open worldwide and not restricted to the Gemini community. The solicitation will be a Request for Proposals (RFP) and will be evaluated with evaluation factors provided in the solicitation. If a submitted proposal does not include what is required in the solicitation, it will be considered an unresponsive proposal and will not be evaluated for award. The applicable NAICS is 541712. The solicitation will be issued on or about May 2, 2016, to interested parties at the following URL: http://www.gemini.edu/news/general-announcements for downloading free of charge. Proposers are responsible for obtaining amendments from the website. Any amendments to the solicitation will be available at the same website. Until the solicitation is issued, any questions must be submitted to the AURA Contracts Officer by e-mail to kgodzyk@aura-astronomy.org as a Request for Information. A pre-proposal conference will be held in Tucson, AZ, approximately 6 weeks following issuance of the RFP. Specific date and location information will be provided in the RFP document. The deadline for proposals will be on or about August 29, 2016 (See solicitation for actual due date and time.). All responsible sources may submit a proposal, which shall be considered by AURA if received timely. Anticipated award date of new contract is January 1, 2017.
