Description

Question 1: If we were able to provide a Form Fit Function Alternative to all required specs how would we get it approved? Answer 1: In order to be considered for contract award, the proposed item must be NAVSEA approved. For informational purposes the NAVSEA approval process is similar to the requirements of the Qualified Products List/Qualified Manufacturer's List and takes a minimum of 24 months for approval. Note that the Rate Sensor is a component of a higher level assembly item. In summary the process requires first, that the Rate Sensor be built to the exact specifications shown on drawing PESK-6946 and delivered to the Government; second, that an ordered quantity of units be produced for testing; and third, that the units be scheduled for and undergo flight testing. Based on historical production and testing of this item, 2-3 months are estimated for the Rate Sensor to be built, 7-10 months for units to be produced for testing purposes, and 12 months for flight testing to be scheduled, performed, and the resulting report published.
