- The U.S. EPA intends to negotiate on a sole source basis, under the authority of FAR 13.106-(b)(1), with Carl Zeiss Microscopy LLC for the annual maintenance of the Zeiss Laser Scanning Confocal Microscope System. EPA has identified Carl Zeiss as the only contractor able to meet the requirements of this procurement. The EPA ¿s Office of Research and Development (ORD), National Risk Management Research Laboratory (NRMRL) at AWBERC, 26 West Martin Luther King Dr., Cincinnati, OH 45268 utilizes this microscope system on a continuous basis for research. The Laser Scanning Confocal Microscope System instrument was purchased from Carl Zeiss themselves. Carl Zeiss is the sole manufacturer and distributor of these instrumentation as well as the parts and products to support the equipment. This company possesses the unique capabilities of providing preventative maintenance and repair services for this instrument. Carl Zeiss has factory trained certified field engineers to service the instrument. The contractor shall also provide applications support/training and software upgrades (as available). This procurement will be accomplished under FAR Part 12, Commercial Procedures. It is our intent to award a single fixed price purchase order consisting of one (1) 12-month base period and two (2) 12-month option periods for a potential term of 36 months. Interested firms may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTATIONS. A determination by the Government not to compete this acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Sources wishing to be considered MUST submit documentation demonstrating their capability to provide this service to the office identified in this notice. Documentation must be submitted within 10 calendar days of the date of publication of this notice. Submit your request in writing to Renita Tyus through the message center in FedConnect.
