Description
USAID's Advisory Committee on Voluntary Foreign Aid Public Meeting on Ending Preventable Child and Maternal Deaths Wednesday, July 13, 2016 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm * Join USAID and the Advisory Committee on Voluntary Foreign Aid (ACVFA) for a discussion about the progress and future of efforts to End Preventable Child and Maternal Deaths. Since 1990, the world has cut child and maternal mortality in half, largely considered one of the greatest successes in international development. But challenges remain, with too many women and children still dying from things like diarrhea, postpartum bleeding, and neonatal infections following birth. As we near the end of the Administration, it is time to look critically at what is working and what isn't, and make a plan to sustain and build on these achievements into the future. Where and how can we further focus and maximize impact? How is the global development community collectively measuring success? What is the best way to talk about our efforts to keep up momentum and support? And how can we make sure our collective efforts are financed in a comprehensive and sustainable way? This discussion will provide business, nonprofit, and government perspectives on our ability to significantly curtail preventable child and maternal deaths in increasingly interconnected global development efforts. Read the ACVFA Ending Preventable Child and Maternal Deaths Working Group's recommendations here.
