Description
This Small Business Sources Sought Notice is for information and planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a solicitation or as an obligation or commitment by the Government. This notice is intended strictly for Market Research. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases is conducting a market survey to determine the availability and technical capability of qualified small business, veteran-owned small business, service-disabled veteran-owned small business or HUBZone small businesses capable of providing a Benchtop Cell Disruptor. Our research focuses on how HIV-1 integrates its DNA into cellular DNA, which is an essential step for replication of the virus. Specifically, we are studying molecular and structural biology of the HIV enzyme integrase, which carries out this reaction. We are also studying the role of barrier-autointegration factor for the host cell. These and other projects within NIDDK require use of a cell disruptor to break open cells prior to protein purification. We need a cell disruptor system system that meets the following requirements: 1. It should be capable of operating at pressures up to 40Kpsi. 2. It should be capable of processing in single shot or continuous mode. 3. The disruption head should be surrounded by a cooling jacket to enable chilling of sample at all process stages. 4. The instrument should have a digital control panel to set all the parameters, such as pressure, and also count the usage of the internal parts to facilitate keeping track of maintenance requirements. 5. The instrument should incorporate a valve to reverse flow in case of blockage. 6. Instrument should have optional bio-containment of inlet and outlet in case such capability is required in future. 6. Pressure should be consistent and stable during the disruption cycle. 7. Cell disruptor should control a pump for automatic supply of sample. 8. Automatic shutdown when process is complete. 9. System should be totally independent and require only a power supply. The intended procurement will be classified under North American Industrial Classification (NAICS) code 334516 with a size standard of 1000. All respondents are requested to identify their firm's size and type of business. Interested firms responding to this market survey must provide (a) capability statement demonstrating their experience, skills and capability to fulfill the Government's requirements for the above. The capability statement shall be in sufficient enough detail, but not to exceed 15 pages, so that the Government can determine the experience and capability of your firm to provide the requirements above. Your capability statement, not to exceed 15 pages, should include references. Capability statement must be received at the email address identified in this synopsis by 11:00 A.M. local time on July 29, 2016. Any questions regarding this announcement must be sent via email to verne.griffin@mail.nih.gov and must include solicitation NICHD16126 in the subject line of email. This synopsis is for information and planning purposes and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will the Government pay for information solicited.
