RFI 2016-Q-65688 Solicitation Number: 2016-Q-65688 NAICS Codes: 325412 Title: Request for Information - Syringes (Tuberculin, Insulin, 3ml, etc.) Synopsis: This is a request for information (RFI). It is not a solicitation for proposals, proposal abstracts, or quotations. The purpose of this notice is to: 1. Gather information on commercially available safety syringes with needles. 2. Better understand manufacturing and surge capacity in the commercial market (volumes). 3. Determine immediate and future market availability (timeframes). 4. Use this information to make informed acquisition strategies that may be used to support future preparedness and response efforts. Background: The ever-evolving threat of an outbreak presents a compelling need for the federal government to optimize preparedness using medical countermeasures available in the marketplace. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) is a national repository of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies designed to supplement and re-supply state and local public health agencies during a national emergency. As part of our planning, the CDC is considering options to optimize response capabilities of medical supplies, including tuberculin, insulin, and 3ml syringes, to support potential public health needs. Understanding the market landscape for these products will inform SNS planning activities. The CDC is interested in obtaining information from manufacturers about the current commercial products available, product shelf life and packaging, and estimated domestic and global manufacturing capacity. Information requested - Respondents are asked to provide the following information: To respond to this RFI, please respond in reference to one or more of the below items. The CDC asks that you provide information only for those items that are manufactured by your company.
