Description

The Active Inceptor System (AIS) has been integrated into the CH-53K aircraft to provide both cyclic and collective, linked and unlinked Fly-by-Wire signal inputs to three Flight Control Computers. Production obsolescence issues with the AIS and the need to reduce recurring costs has led the Government to seek an obsolescence redesign solution to replace the current system. The Active Inceptor System (AIS) Obsolescence Redesign effort addresses obsolescence and cost by incorporating new electronic and mechanical components, upgraded software, and other manufacturing and test fixes. Additionally, the AIS Obsolescence Redesign enables the Government to maximize the use of existing assets, reduce the overall risk to system integration and provide the least amount of impact to the program schedule while maintaining backwards compatibility and the form, fit and functionality of the current CH-53K AIS hardware and software interfaces.
