- Description
- Vascular System Salient Characteristics for Vascular Diagnostic System Background: • Targeted screening of persons who are at increased risk for Peripheral Arterial Disease, such as persons who are older than 65 years of age and those who are older than 50 years of age and are smokers or have diabetes, is recommended by the guidelines of the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association (ACC#AHA). • Noninvasive testing typically includes the measurement of blood pressures at different levels in the legs (segmental blood pressures) and the estimation of corresponding segment#brachial indexes (including the ankle#brachial index), as well as continuous wave Doppler waveform analysis (N Engl J Med 2016;374:861-71). • The Vascular Diagnostic System must be able to perform or provide # Within a relatively short time frame determine presence or absence of peripheral arterial disease (PAD) • Initial performance of bilateral upper and lower extremity measurements to compare right to left and left to right to rule out Sub clavian Stenosis • Determination of the Ankle Brachial Index or ABI to include initial Pressure Volume Recording to account for the possible presence of medial calcinosis • Allow for initial Toe Pressures and Pressure Volume Recording to assess those patients with incompressible ankle arteries • Within 20 minutes determine level and severity of disease if present • Measurement of systolic bloods pressure along selected segments of each extremity • Perform Pulse Volume Recording (PVR), a graphical illustration of volumetric change in a segment of the limb that occurs with each pulse • Ability to incorporate dual channel calibrated PVR which allows for measurement precision and reproducibility • Allow the tracking of and management of patients with known or suspected PAD especially patients with diabetes and/or smoking history. - Recording and documentation of indications for initial and subsequent studies -Tracking of patient symptomatology -Serial performance of studies to compare interval change # Capability to determine the presence of microvascular disease and track the progression of such disease via Toe Pressures • Provide initial training and educational support for technicians and providers • Acquisition provides for long-term clinical and technical support to include the option for an extended warranty after end of initial warranty.
