- Description
- Sole Source Justification The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Edare Incorporated Audiometric Headsets, with technical and engineering support services. Edare Inc. has developed an audiometric headphone that employs a wireless interface to tablet, mobile device or computer and is capable of delivering a wide range of stimuli (continuous, pulsed and warble tones, narrow band noise, speech stimuli and speech in noise). The control of the audiometer is programmable for the purposes of customizing the testing protocols that will be utilized with the headset. Other products have a wireless interface to a computer, but do not have the capability to measure the ambient background noise underneath the earcups of the headphones. Other systems lack the programmability allowing customizable testing features. The Edare headphones have a larger internal volume than all other systems which allows us to integrate hearing protector fit testing with a variety of different psychoacoustic protocols such as alternating binaural loudness balance and real ear attenuation at threshold under headphones. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1).. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within two (2) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any quotation/response should be emailed to William Brannen at VWL0@cdc.gov by 1:00 P.M., August 5, 2016.
