Contract Title. Suction Regulators 3. Background. VA Cleveland Medical Center patients requires a variety of medical devices (chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, Yankauer, etc.) that remove secretion/fluids from the patient's lungs, pleura, stomach, mouth, and drains. These devices must attach to a suction regulator for continuous or intermittent removal. 4. Scope. In an effort to standardize nursing care across the VA Cleveland Medical Center, we are pursuing the purchase of ninety six (96) suction regulators. The suction devices would provide continuous or intermittent suction in one device. Currently, the organization has a very limited supply of this dual function device which often does not meet the patient demand. The proposed device allows for flexibility in suctioning such as intermittent mode for NG tubes, continuous suction for removal of secretion from trachs, etc. This device must be adaptable and can be connected to the present head wall in the patient's room, for easy access and use. We are recommending the purchase of the Boehringer Suction Regulator Model #3804 which has a full 12 year warranty, and can be sterilized when fluid intrusion occurs. 5. Specific Tasks. The suction regulator must be able to provide the following features; provide continuous or intermittent suction in one device, can be adapted and connected to the present head wall in the patient's room, sterilizable, easy access and use, have a 12 year warranty. 5.1 Task 1 - Enterprise Management Controls.
