- Vendor Questionnaire for Interested Parties The US Army, Army Contracting Command, New Jersey on behalf of the Project Manager Soldier Weapons (PMSW), located at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ is conducting a market survey to identify potential sources for manufacturing complete systems of the.50BMG M107 Long Range Sniper Rifle as well as the M107A1. These systems shall be built to the specifications identified in this notice. The M107 is a short recoil semi-automatic weapon system which utilizes standard.50BMG ammunition, primarily the Mk211 Multi-Purpose round. The M107 is man-portable, direct line of sight weapon system capable of providing precision fire on personnel targets at distances of up to 1500 meters and materiel targets at distances of up to 2000 meters. This notice is to determine if there are potential sources capable of manufacturing M107 and M107A1 systems to meet the following criteria: M107 shall meet the requirements set forth in MIL-PRF-32327 The M107A1 shall meet the performance requirements set forth in MIL-PRF-32327, as well as the following requirements; 1. Accuracy: improved dispersion over the M107 2. Weight: M107A1 shall have a 5 lb weight reduction from the original M107. 3. Action: Short Recoil, Semi-Automatic 4. Barrel length: 29" fluted barrel 5. Sound suppressor: A muzzle mounted, detachable sound suppressor. 6. Muzzle device: A compensator/muzzle break compatible with the sound suppressor. 7. Thermal Cheek guard: to reduce possibility of facial burns from hot metal during firing 8. Day optic: An improved day optic for long range engagements. In addition to the above listed enhancements, the M107A1 must meet the operational and environmental requirements that were fulfilled by the original M107. Firms/companies are invited to provide information and relative background on their capabilities to provide spare parts and operator training on the aforementioned weapon systems as well. The production requirement for the M107 and M107A1 is unknown at this point. Please provide comments as the Government seeks to understand industrial capability on production rate and timing as envisioned. This is a sources sought notice only and should not be construed as a Request for Proposal or a commitment by the U.S. Government. The U.S. Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this market survey. All information is to be submitted at no cost or obligation to the Government. If a formal solicitation is generated at a later date, a solicitation notice will be published and more detailed technical requirements will be provided.
