Description
Sources Sought Notice Purpose and Objectives for the Acquisition: The purpose of this potential requirement is the acquisition of two (2) pediatric autism subject matter experts to perform research and assist the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Section of Cognitive Neuropsychology, Laboratory of Brain and Cognition during an autism research program that operates multi-faceted investigations of the brain in autism through neurogenetic, functional and structural imaging, neurocognitive and diagnostic characterizations of children and young adults on the autism spectrum. The contractor shall provide clinically and research valid diagnostic characterization of the participants in these studies who have an autism spectrum disorder, consultation regarding autism specific features and questions to be investigated; development of neurocognitive paradigms to measure clinically relevant features in autism; collection and databasing of cognitive data for phenotyping and hypothesis generation; and dissemination of scientific findings. Project Description: The Contractor shall be responsible for providing the following tasks: • Attending weekly meetings in order to advice LBC postbac IRTAs, post doctoral fellows and Dr. Martin on clinical considerations for data collection and hypothesis generation • Assist in the supervision of all diagnostic characterization; production of written reports describing diagnostic and neurocognitive findings from the study for participants who request them • Oversight of neurocognitive data collection and management, and dissemination of scientific findings both through publications and conference presentations • Administer gold standard autism diagnostic characterizations of all participants with autism • Assist with neurocognitive data collection and management, and dissemination of scientific findings both through publications and conference presentations Education and Experience Requirements: At a minimum the Hospital and two personnel should have the following education and experience: Be a Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders that serves families across the states of Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia with multidisciplinary comprehensive services for children on the autism spectrum. Personnel #1 - Pediatric Neuropsychologist: - Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology -At least 20 years of experience as a pediatric neuropsychologist -At least10 years of experience working with children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders -At least 10 years of experience with NIMH's Laboratory of Brain and Cognition -Experience in developing research paradigms and evaluation procedures as well as training staff in the cognitive assessment of individuals with autism Personnel #2 - A Psychology Investigator: - Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology - At least 5 years of experience studying autism and developmental disabilities with a focus on pediatric autism - Completed a clinical psychology internship and is a psychology post-doctoral fellow in the Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders and CNHS
