Description
The USDA ARS - WBSC intends to award a sole source Firm Fixed Purchase Order (PO) to ILLUMINA, INC, 5200 ILLUMINA WAY, SAN DIEGO, CA 92122-4616. This order will purchase an ILLUMINA MINISEQ DNA SEQUENCING SYSTEM (SY-420-1001) in support of the ongoing research in the Pollinating Insect Research Unit at USDA ARS, Bee-Biology & Systematics, Logan, UT. The Firm Fixed PO will include the following: 1. ILLUMINA - MINISEQ SYSTEM, SY-420-1001 : An integrated system for automated generation of DNA clonal clusters by bridge amplification, sequencing, & analysis SYSTEM INCLUDES: - Embedded touch screen monitor & on-instrument computer - MiniSeq Control Software, Local Run Manager analysis & management software - Installation & training - 12 months Warranty (including parts & labor) USDA ARS, Bee-Biology & Systematics is purchasing this MiniSeq System (DNA Sequencer) is further their research & understanding about the native bees. This sequencer will aid the Researchers in creating molecular methods & data that can be used by non-specialists to ID bees in surveys in agricultural and natural ecosystems. Others will use this to understand the population genetics of bees to determine if climate change or other factors are impacting the bees. It will also be used to examine the impacts of environmental stress like pesticides upon the pathogens and bee health by examining changes in gene expression and pathogen genotypes. Overall, the experiments with this DNA sequencer will hopefully let USDA Researchers improve the health of native bees and ensure pollination in agricultural and natural ecosystems. Pursuant to the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. The award date will be on or about September 2, 2016 ; and this Notice of Intent is not considered as a Request for Quotation (RFQ) nor is it a Request for Proposals (RFP). No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be honored. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement. A determination, by the Government, to compete this proposed PO based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. The Government will consider all responses received by 07:30PM PST, September 1, 2016. Information received will be considered solely for determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
