- The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) intends to issue competitive solicitation N00024-16-R-5369 for the production of the MK 5 MOD 0 Velocimeter Replacement System. This solicitation is for a Firm Fixed Price type contract. NAVSEA intends for this acquisition to be a 100% Small Business Set Aside. The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code for this requirement is 334511 with a Small Business Size Standard of 1,250 employees. The solicitation is expected to be released on or about September 21, 2016. This notice is related to previous FBO postings: N00024-15-R-5368, N00024-15-R-5369, and N00024-15-R-5415. The Velocimeter MK 5 MOD 0, a Radio Frequency (RF) Doppler radar, is a component of all United States Navy (USN) and U.S. Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Gun Computer System (GCS) MK 160 Variants deployed aboard Destroyer and Cruiser ship classes. The MK 160 GCS is a component of the MK 34 Gun Weapon System (GWS). The MK 5 Velocimeter is a single unit that consists of an antenna, RF transmitter, receiver, and electronics required to measure and process muzzle velocity of the fired 5-inch projectile. It is mounted externally on the non-recoiling section of the gun barrel, to measure and provide muzzle Initial Velocities (IVs) of the fired projectiles to the GCS via a bi-directional RS-232 serial link. The solicitation will be issued electronically via Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) at http://fbo.gov and interested parties must comply with that announcement. Interested offerors should monitor the FBO page for the release of the solicitation, and any applicable amendments. Offerors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) in order to participate in this procurement at https://www.sam.gov/portal/public/SAM/. This pre-solicitation notice is for information only and shall not be construed as a commitment by the Government to solicit contractual offers or award of contracts. The Government is not soliciting, nor will it accept proposals as a result of this synopsis. The Government will not reimburse respondents for any questions submitted or information provided as a result of this notice. All responsible sources may submit a proposal, which shall be considered by the agency.
