- Description
- Boston VA Medical Center has a requirement to purchase from TECAN, the TECAN Buffy Coat Aliquoting Workstation (Product #US7074-SPS), referred to as the TECAN Blood fractionator plus warranty coverage (including installation & software overview). This product will guarantee appropriate sample processing capabilities and support high quality processing of large numbers of specimens. This product is consistent and compatible with similar, existing TECAN equipment currently used in the Massachusetts Veterans Epidemiology Research and Information Center (MAVERIC) Biorepository. The laboratory is involved in a large scale genomics project that will require processing up to 1000 or more samples a day in addition to existing and ongoing processing for other cooperative study program projects. This TECAN product is a robotic Automated Liquid Handling (ALH) processing system for aliquoting human blood fractions. Vacutainer blood tubes will be added to or input into the system. In addition to the blood tubes, the system will read the bar-coded identified on the tube and make a record of the ID. The system will include an automated decapper that will remove the caps from the blood tubes. The system will determine the location of the blood fractions (plasma, buffy coat, red cells) within the tube with accurate precision. The robotic system will automatically remove specified volumes of each fraction and separately aliquot to be transferred to freezer/cryogenic storage, or other relevant lab processes such as Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA extraction). The system will track identifiers, specimen type, aliquot volume, cryovial identified, and sample location (rack ID and location within rack), and maintain a complete audit trail. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, any responsible source who believes they are capable of meeting the requirement may submit a capability statement to the contracting office no later than Friday, September 9 at 1:00 PM EST. Interest/capability statements may be sent to Linda Buccigrossi at linda.buccigrossi@va.gov. No telephone responses will be accepted. A determination not to compete the proposed requirement based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. When submitting capability statement please identify in the email subject line the following: TECAN Buffy Coat Aliquot - Boston VA - Response to Sources Sought
