Description
DMAT for LCAAT RFI_3Oct16 The government is interested in moderate to high TRL/MRL technologies that can be used to fabricate, assemble, and demonstrate low cost vehicle components. It is understood that the incorporation of certain low cost materials and/or manufacturing processes could potentially have significant impact on the component design. Therefore, this RFI is also interested in understanding various low cost materials and manufacturing processes that could be used to fabricate aircraft components and their potential impact on vehicle design. Additionally, the government is interested in industry capabilities to quickly and inexpensively assemble components into prototype units, sub-system integration into the aircraft, and prototype ground testing. Because of the primary driving goal of minimizing average unit flyaway costs (AUFC), the government is also interested in gathering process specific cost information to justify investment decisions as future ground vehicle demonstrations are planned and executed. We are interested in current industry plans for future internal investments in any of the specific technical areas below. This knowledge will allow Air Force personnel to leverage industry and other agency investments. We welcome disclosure and a review of industry investment plans that include demonstrations of technologies that already have or will shortly achieve maturity levels of TRL/MRL-5.
