Description
NAVSEA intends to hold an Industry Day on October 28, 2016. The Navy incurs various additional costs above the contract price when completing maintenance and modernization availabilities away from the vessel's home port. The additional costs the Navy incurs for moving vessels and crew members between their home ports and other locations for overhaul and repair work are known as "interport differential costs." In accordance with 10 USC 7299a, before awarding work among competing shipyard offerors, the Navy determines the reasonably predictable & foreseeable "interport differential costs" of moving the vessel and its crew from the homeport to the outside place of performance and back, and adds those costs to the proposed contract price in order to determine each offeror's evaluated price to the government. The purpose of this Industry Day is to make the ship repair community aware of the Navy's processes and procedures utilized to develop the interport cost differentials, as well as the constraints the Navy experiences when calculating foreseeable costs with reasonable certainty. Additionally, this forum will give the Navy an opportunity to receive feedback from the ship repair industry on matters relating to the calculation of the foreseeable interport differential costs. Date & Time: October 28, 2016 beginning at 12:30pm and concluding at approximately 2:30pm Eastern Daylight Time. Where: Alion Science and Technology, 1100 New Jersey Ave SE, Suite 200 Independence Room, Washington D.C. 20003 (Pay parking lots available in the vicinity) RSVP: Interested parties are required to RSVP for the Industry Day by 1:00pm Eastern Time on 24 October 2016 by email to Mr. Doug McCreary at Douglas.McCreary@navy.mil.
