- Leica Biosystems-Aperio digital slide scanning system update/upgrade (software, hardware, and additional training) FDA-NOI-1176222 Synopsis - Notice of Intent to Sole Source This synopsis is hereby issued in accordance with FAR Part 5.203 in response to the mandatory requirement for a 15 day notification. The purpose of this synopsis is to announce that the Food and Drug Administration's intents to negotiate a Firm Fixed Price sole source contract with Leica Microsystems INC located at 1700 Leider Ln Buffalo Grove IL 60089-6622. The Government intends to negotiate solely with Leica Microsystems INC per FAR 6.302-1, as no other source of supplies will satisfy agency requirements. The FDA's intent is to obtain update/upgrade (software, hardware, and additional training) needed for the existing Leica Biosystems-Aperio digital slide scanning system. The model is CS, serial number 5348 that supports numerous research projects within the Division of Applied Regulatory Science. Leica Biosystems-Aperio digital slide scanning system currently owned by the Food and Drug Administration FDA requires Updates/upgrades in order to be compatible with FDA's newly installed server in addition to increase the speed of slide scanning, capacity for data organization, and scope of image analysis. The remaining Leica Biosystems-Aperio -specific components are needed as the final step of the upgrade. Those components include software upgrades, hardware upgrades to the scanner camera and for the workstation, and additional training on the upgraded system, detailed below: • Windows 7 Controller PC Upgrade • Aperio Miscellaneous Data Services • Onsite Support • Instructor-led training THIS NOTICE IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS, however, interested firms may submit a capability statement in response to the above requirement with reference to FDA-NOI-1176222 and pricing information by December 15th, 2016 @ 2:00 PM EST to Naomi Carter, Contract Specialist, Email: Naomi.Carter@fda.hhs.gov. A determination not to open competition based responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
