Description
Special Announcement Industry Day 2017 The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Norfolk District would like to invite dredging industry contractors to Industry Day 2017 for the Wormley Creek Dredging Project in support of the USCG Training Center Yorktown (TRACEN) located in Yorktown, Virginia. The Wormley Creek Dredging Project will consist of dredging up to approximately 70,000 cubic yards of maintenance and new work material from the Wormley Creek Main Channel to the York River, West Branch of Wormley Creek from the Main Channel to the BFC Turning/Boat Basin, and the BFC Turning/Boat Basin at USCG Training Center Yorktown (TRACEN) located in Yorktown, Virginia. Approximately 29,000 cubic yards of sandy material will be dredged and hydraulically placed on a nearby shoreline and approximately 41,000 cubic yards of fine grained material will be dredged and transported by barge or scow to the Wolftrap Alternate Placement Site (WTAPS) in the Chesapeake Bay. A Hydraulic Cutter-head Dredge, Mechanical Dredge, or a combination of both types of plant and equipment may be used to accomplish this work. Maximum pay depth will be to -9 feet MLLW, maximum permitted depths will be to - 10 feet MLLW. The event will be held at the Norfolk District Waterfield Building located at 803 Front Street, Norfolk, Virginia on December 28, 2017 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Check-in for the event will begin at 12:30 pm. If there is sufficient interest, participation by webinar will be arranged with the details to follow in an amendment to this announcement. This event is not a marketing opportunity and will not promote upcoming projects. The purpose and focus of the event will be to seek dredging industry input and their questions regarding best practices for the technical execution of the Wormley Creek Dredging Project. The event will include a presentation by Norfolk District staff members giving current information regarding scope of work, environmental permit requirements, safety, dredging and dredged material placement concerns, work zone and time-of-year restrictions. Copies of draft technical documents and plans will be available for review during the event. All interested attendees must pre-register by e-mail to Quincy McNeil, Contract Specialist, at Quincy.A.McNeil@usace.army.mil or Eartha Garrett, Chief of Civil Works and IIES Contracting Branch, at Eartha.Garrett@usace.army.mil referencing the "Wormley Creek Dredging Project" no later than December 13, 2017. E-mail requests beyond the due date will not be accepted. Telephone requests will not be accepted. The Registration email must include: name, company, day-time telephone number, e-mail address, and your relation to the dredging industry as reason for attendance. Registrants are encouraged to include suggested topics for discussion when registering. This is a non-fee event and seating is limited. Meals will not be served; however, coffee and water will be provided. The Government will not be conducting one-on-one discussions related to any potential contract or on-going work under contract during this event. This announcement is not a contract solicitation, request for proposal of any sort, a promise to issue any future contract, a forum to discuss upcoming work, or a commitment to offer work of any kind on the part of the Government.
