Description
Rotary Screw Traps for Freshwater Fish The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Columbia River Research Laboratory, Cook, WA intends to make a non-competitive award to EG Solutions, Inc., Corvallis, OR, in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b) to purchase two (2) aquatic fish rotary screw traps and two (2) custom trailers. These traps will be used for salmonid lifecycle monitoring in the river system upstream of Shasta Reservoir in California. A rotary screw trap (RST) is a unique piece of equipment that is an essential tool for salmonid lifecycle monitoring. The design of the rotary screw trap enables monitoring and estimation of the abundance of various life stages of fish that inhabit and migrate a river system. The particular river system upstream of Shasta Reservoir studied in this project requires a trap that will 1) collect fish with minimal injuries; 2) have the ability to self-clean fine debris which would otherwise accumulate in the live well box and could injure fish; 3) if rapid changes in flow occur, have the ability to raise and lower the collection cone for safety purposes and to avoid damage; 4) have the ability to be deployed in large (non-wadeable) rivers with high variability in flow so fish can be collected in all conditions; 5) have the ability to be positioned in any location in a river system and be moved laterally, as it can be connected by cables from shore; and 6) be portable and can easily be moved from one section of the river to another depending on the need. The Government is unaware of any other trap meeting the Government's minimum needs. This requirement is a commercial item prepared in accordance with the format in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR 12), as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation. All responsible sources may submit a quote which shall be considered by the agency. This notice and any resulting solicitation or purchase order conforms to the requirements in place through FAC 2005-93-1, dated 01-01-2017. North American Industry Classification System (NAICS): 332999 - All Other Miscellaneous Fabricated Metal Product Manufacturing; Size Standard: 750 Employees. Responses must be in writing, via email or fax to the Contract Specialist: capplegate@usgs.gov or fax (206) 526-6654.
