Description
Attachment Solicitation-Part 1 Solicitation-Part 2 The Library of Congress (Library) requires contract support to create bibliographic metadata for items in it backlogs of unprocessed materials in a number of languages for which LC has limited expertise. The Acquisitions & Bibliographic Access Directorate acquires materials for the Library of Congress (LC) in all formats, all subjects (except technical agriculture and clinical medicine), and in more than 400 languages from all over the world. The African, Latin American, & Western European Division (ALAWE), Asian & Middle Eastern Division (ASME), Germanic & Slavic Division (GS), and U.S. Programs, Law, & Literature Division (USPRLL) acquire and catalog foreign language materials for which specialized language expertise is required. The Library requires assistance in cataloging works in some of these foreign languages. The ALAWE, ASME, GS, and USPRLL Divisions cannot complete bibliographic records in LC's Integrated Library System (ILS) for all of the items in their unprocessed backlogs. A contractor is needed to help reduce the number of the items that remain in an in-process state. The contractor, working with the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR), will catalog works in Catalan, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and/or Spanish by preparing bibliographic records in the ILS with appropriate description, subject headings and classification numbers to provide adequate access to the material. The completion of the records will make these foreign language materials available to Congress, staff servicing their needs, and Library users. See attachments.
