Description
Notice to the Trade: Commodity Procurement Staff Organizational Restructure Effective January 23, 2017, the Commodity Procurement Staff (CPS) of the Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) will be welcoming the New Year with a restructure to its organization. This restructure has been planned for over a year and we are excited about the changes. This organizational restructure was created with five desired outcomes in mind: 1. To fully integrate contracting into one branch, joining the locations in Washington, D.C. and Kansas City, Missouri, into a single working unit 2. To ensure sufficient staffing in all branches, 3. To provide new opportunities for growth and promotion for employees, 4. To be competitive with other organizations within the USDA, as well as other contracting shops, and 5. To prepare for the future with regard to employee workload and succession planning. Along with these outcomes, we hope to see improved customer service, as well as better working relationships, with partners moving forward. Please be advised that your point of contact within CPS may be changing soon. Over the next few weeks, CPS personnel will be completing certain tasks, mainly completing buys that are currently in midstream, and will soon-after transition into new product groups and/or new positions. After their work is complete, the attached contact list will be in full effect. The attached contact list will be posted to our website in the near future. We also encourage you to visit our website often and review the contact list as it will likely change several times throughout the year.
