- CHARTER BUS RENTAL 2017 SOLAR ECLIPSE The National Park Service is issuing a combined synopsis/solicitation for bus support for the Great Smoky Mountain National Parks Solar Eclipse event located at Clingmans Dome on August 21, 2017, pick- up and drop off locations will be on opposite sides of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, TN and NC. The NAICS code is 485510 Charter Bus Industry and the size standard is $15 million. This solicitation will result in a contract with a period of (1) day for the event. The contracting office will not provide hardcopies or email copies of the solicitation, please review the attachments posted. Required Services: The contractor shall provide all labor, tools, equipment, materials and supervision required to provide bus support for the Great Smoky Mountain National Parks Solar Eclipse event located at Clingmans Dome on August 21, 2017. 13 tour buses that hold 55 passengers each that will transport passengers from the Ober Gatlinburg Parking Area at the intersection of Long Branch Rd and Cottage Rd in Gatlinburg, TN. and 12 buses that hold 55 passengers each that will transport passengers from the transit Parking Area located along highway 441 at the National Park boundary in Cherokee, NC. Total number of buses required is 25. The first group of four buses bus will depart Cherokee, NC at 9:30 am and take passengers to Clingmans Dome arriving at approximately 11:00 am. The first group of four buses will depart Gatlinburg, TN at 9:45 am and take passengers to Clingmans Dome arriving at approximately 11:15 am. See attached bus schedule. Buses will be staged on the mountain during the event awaiting return trip. All buses will arrive back to Gatlinburg, TN and Cherokee, NC by approximately 6:00 pm. Buses need to be capable of maintaining 35 mph on 9% grade to travel to Clingmans Dome. Buses must be capable of making a turn approximately 72 feet wide. The elevation at the Clingmans Dome Parking Area is 6,600 feet. SYSTEM FOR AWARD MANAGEMENT (SAM): Federal Acquisition Regulations require that federal contractors register in the System for Award Management (SAM) database at https://www.sam.gov and enter all mandatory information into the system. Award cannot be made until the contractor has registered. Interested offerors are encouraged to ensure that they are registered in SAM prior to submitting their quote.
