Description
This announcement constitutes a Request for Information (RFI) to afford industry an opportunity to provide information regarding their capabilities for providing motored laser safety blinds located at Naval Research Laboratory (NRL), Washington, DC. This is not a Request for Quotation (RFQ) nor is it to be construed as a commitment by the U.S. Government to form a binding contract. Parties that respond will not be paid for the information submitted. NRL is hereby requesting capability statements and other information from interested sources. GENERAL INFORMATION: NRL is seeking at least Class 3b motorized laser safety blinds. No specular reflective surfaces anywhere (exposed motor parts, hanging grommets, hanging hooks/rings, etc.) and they cannot be reflective at the wavelength being used. If obtained, the motorized laser safety blinds must be non-flammable for use with Class 4 lasers. The four motorized laser safety blinds sizes consist of approximately: 1. 15 feet, 1 inch (width) x 5 feet (height), 2. 18 feet (width) x 5 feet (height), 3. 8 feet, 6 inches (width) x 5 feet, 3 inches (height), and 4. 8 feet, 6 inches (width) x 2 feet, 9 inches (height). Each of the four motorized laser safety blinds sizes can be divided into smaller sizes, but still have its own motorized laser safety blind. Each motorized laser safety blind should be individual controlled. Also, the motorized laser safety blinds should have wall panel control switches, not wireless, and at least pure flat black color on the laser side. List any redundancy or actuation of the laser safety blinds if the motor portion for the motorized laser safety blinds fails. Interested parties are requested to furnish a capability statement to provide installment and product information. NRL will not pay for information or comments provided and will not recognize any costs associated with submission of comments. Interested firms are requested to submit the information no later than 4:00pm ET on April 28, 2017. Replies to this RFI should be sent via email to patricia.willis@nrl.navy.mil.
