- This is a Request for Information (RFI) for Commercial products and services in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 12.1. No proposals are requested by this announcement; All responses shall be solely in the form of information and materials. In accordance with FAR 15.201(e), responses to this notice are not offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. The Government is under no obligation to issue a solicitation or to award any contract based on this RFI. Further, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is not seeking proposals and will not accept unsolicited proposals or any cost or pricing data. The Government will not pay for any information or administrative costs incurred in response to this RFI. All costs associated with responding to this RFI will be the sole responsibility of the contractor. All submissions will be treated as business confidential materials, become Government property, and will not be returned. The Department of Veterans Affairs Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP) Dallas TX is a mechanize, automated, pharmaceutical Rx Bottle, filling, labeling, and packaging facility. We refill Veteran prescriptions, package them and mail them to the veteran. See YOUTUBE CMOP 2012 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfYHffF7Qhs SUMMARY: Contractor to provide all labor, materials and equipment to install 4 ea. New Rx bottle orientation feeders & label applicators (printers) utilizing existing Rx bottle hopper & feeders, puck system, electrical service and current operational software control system. Scope will include removal of old units, install new feeders and printers. New equipment shall use existing bottle hopper and feed equipment, utilize existing air lines, electrical service and Profibus system. New equipment shall be operated by current CMOP software operating systems. New label applicators, orientation, shall be located in current location and utilize existing puck distribution system and conveyers. New units shall be installed as to not effect current production. Production software is custom built that includes; Think and Do, Sycon and others. Vendor shall be required to team with CMOP IT and current CMOP software development contractor to assure that new units will operate on existing system. Vendor shall be highly qualified and have extensive experience in KNAPP production equipment and designs, a minimum of 10 years of experience Provide and install four each (4 ea.) bottle orientation feeders, (Automation Technologies Model SJF-5-PFH, print and label applicator, large format) or exact equivalent, each equipped with 1 ea. Honeywell Data Max label applicators, Model I-4310E, I class Mark II 4 In 300DPI, Direct Thermal with cast Peel and Present, Internal Re-winder, 3 / 1.5IN Media Hub, reduced torque clutch assembly,(complete specifications to be provided on award). All units to be supplied with, rotary bottle orienting device, bin level sensors w/stack lights, alarm module on stack light, side mounted label applicators, configured for a maximum conveyor height of 36 with split funnel assemblies, I/O connection will be from the terminal strip in the main electrical enclosure for your direct termination in the field. Each feeder/applicator will have one E-Stop. The feeder adjustable feet will have holes provided in event it is desired to fasten to the floor, but adjustable mounting brackets will be provided for fastening feeder directly to your conveyor. Also supplied, will be a 10 long incoming 120VAC power cord terminated on your end with a 20amp twist lock male plug. Electrical requirements will be 120 volts, 20 amps, 60 cycles. Air requirements are clean, compressed air at 75 psi. Units shall fit in current orientation, labeler location. Units shall be equipped with large roll feeders, (12 label roll diameter, 3 inch core, horizontal feed) for label s, shall label up to 30 containers per minute on each unit. Using current bottle hopper and feed system the new bottle orientation feeder shall accept the bottles without the need of additional bottle hoppers. Footprint of new equipment should not exceed 61 inches x 100 inches each. New equipment shall be enclosed units with clear removable viewing doors, and shall maintain a noise level under 80dB during operation.
