Description
The following questions were received by the program office concerning the RFI and are answered as follows: Q1: Is there information on the barrel profiles (length and outside diameter)? A1: M4/M4A1 Barrel Length: 14.5 inches; M27 Barrel Length: 16.5 inches Other barrel profile information is not releasable to the public. Vendors are encouraged to submit commercially available solutions they feel may meet the Government's need. Q2: I am interested in submitting a white paper for the RFI released and would like clarification on a on the muzzle quick detach. Typically the assault rifles use a muzzle break attached to the end of the rifle however there is no mention of it in the RFI. Is a muzzle break required to be part of the muzzle device quick detach piece when the suppressor can is removed? Any information provided would be appreciated. A2: The RFI states the suppressor design can be over the barrel or flush mount design. The Government does not specify the use of a muzzle device to attach the suppressor; the only specification is that it may not permanently alter the configuration of the weapon. Q3: Can you confirm the barrel length on the M27 is 16.5" and if so does the 20"OAL req apply to the M27? A3: Yes, the barrel length is 16.5 inches. Yes the 20 inch barrel length applies to the M27. PM IW is interested in solutions vendors feel will be beneficial to the Government. Q4: Specifically, what is the Marine's clearance with the M203 and the M320? Is there a max diameter for the Suppressor in regards to lights, sights, lasers, etc? A4: The Government is not currently defining a max diameter for the Suppressor; the Government welcomes solutions vendors feel are viable.
