- The U.S. Army Contracting Command - Aberdeen Proving Ground, Natick Contracting Division (ACC-APG-NCD), on behalf of Product Manager - Soldier Clothing and Individual Equipment (PdM-SCIE), intends to award Firm Fixed Price (FFP) contracts to Original Footwear Co, McRae Industries, Inc., Rocky Brands, Inc., and Wolverine World Wide, Inc. The anticipated award date will be no later than 29 September 2017. PdM-SCIE has a requirement to procure Variant 2 Jungle Combat Boots (JCB) to be used in Soldier evaluations by units participating in Pacific Pathways in numerous locations in the Pacific Ring to include Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, South Korea, and Japan. This requirement is in support of the Chief of Staff Army (CSA), JCB Amended Directed Requirement dated 8 March 2017, which requires a JCB to support Soldiers who currently operate or have the potential to conduct operations in a tropical jungle environment. An interim JCB model was developed and fielded to support the CSA Directed Requirement dated 16 September 2016. PdM SCIE is now incorporating Soldier feedback from the interim JCBs to develop a JCB Variant 2. PdM SCIE intends to procure and test innovative JCBs designed from industry to support this requirement for the Variant 2. A Request for Information (W911QY-17-EPCF) was posted on 26 April 2017 to solicit from industry any potential manufacturing and/or material improvements that may be of benefit in updating the design and construction of the Army's Jungle Combat Boot.
