SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE This is a SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE ONLY. This is NOT a solicitation for proposals or quotes and does not obligate the Government to award a contract. This notice is for informational and planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a solicitation or an obligation or commitment by the Government, nor is it a Request for Proposal (RFQ) at this time. Responses to this Notice must be in writing. The purpose of this Sources Sought Notice is to conduct market research to determine, in particular, the capability of Small Business firms to provide the supplies/services described below. Documentation of technical expertise must be presented in sufficient detail for the Government to determine that your company possesses the necessary experience to compete for this acquisition. Responses to this notice shall include the following: (a) company name; (b) address; (c) point of contact; (d) phone, fax and email; (e ) DUNS Number; (f) Cage Code; (g) socioeconomic category (i.e., small business, Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business, Veteran Owned Small Business, etc.); (h) a technical/capability statement as well as your existing customers (i) any GSA Schedule numbers and expiration dates and (j) if you accept credit cards. Any small business distributors/resellers of this product are encouraged to respond. VA will accept responses from ALL socioeconomic categories in order to gain a more complete understanding of the market for these services. The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System is seeking to procure the products below, that are brand name or equal to and have the following relevant specifications: ALK BAP FFPE FISH Probe 06N38-020 8 PP IV, Post-Hyb Buffer 01N31-005 8 PC ALK Neg Ctrl Sld 06N38-005 8 PC ALK Pos Ctrl kit 06N38-010 8 These items are unique to Abbott Molecular and ALK FISH testing has been validated within the Molecular Anatomic Pathology laboratory using Abbott Molecular s FDA approved kit. Use of a different kit from another company would result in re-validation within the lab which would increase costs as well as delay patient testing. Thus, the products have been rigorously tested and approved for clinical application in multiple countries, as well as validated with the MAP lab with their current FISH equipment already located within the lab. It will offer substantial savings to VAPHS compared to the costs of having to send these tests to a reference lab. The presence or absence of mutations in the Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase (ALK) gene is associated with response to selected therapies. The presence of ALK mutations in the tumor cells of lung adenocarcinomas is associated with a poor response in patients receiving anti-egfr directed therapies. Patients that are found to have ALK gene rearrangements/mutations are eligible to receive treatments for an ALK tyrosine kinase inhibitor. Therefore, identification of ALK mutations can have important diagnostic, prognostic and predictive implication allowing for the identification of subset of patients who may or may not respond to therapy. The NAICS Code for the expected acquisition is 325413, with a Size Standard of 1,250 employees and the PSC Code is 6550. Any subsequent procurement will be conducted as a commercial item purchase in accordance with FAR Part 12 and as a Simplified Acquisition Procedure in accordance with FAR Part 13.
