- Description
- NOAA's NMFS, Alaska Fisheries Science Center, Auke Bay Laboratories, intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (1), with Qiagen Inc. for 3 annual options for preventative maintenance for the Qiagen QIAcube HT and Corbett CAS1820 X-tractor Gene robots. The distribution rights for the Corbett DNA extraction robot were acquired by Qiagen after we purchased the Corbett CAS1820 system in 2008, so both robots are now serviced by Qiagen. These robots need annual servicing as part of preventative maintenance and they occasionally need service repair. While annual service plans are available through Qiagen, it's generally been more cost effective to purchase service when needed. We currently require an annual preventive maintenance visit for the Qiagen QIAcube HT and a service call for to investigate why pipette tips are sticking to the robot head. The preventive maintenance visit for the QIAcube HT (Serial Number 005896) and the Corbett CAS1820 X-tractor (A070705) should include all travel, labor, equipment, and annual replacement parts/supplies necessary to perform the annual inspection and maintenance to confirm that the robot is operating according to its specifications. The preventive maintenance visit must include a full inspection to ensure the robot is operating according to specifications and, if necessary, estimates for required repairs/parts. Since service parts are unknown at this time, a line for parts ($3000) is also included on the purchase request. Both the preventive maintenance service for the QIAcube and the repair of the Corbett CAS1820 robot should be completed as part of a single on-site visit to Auke Bay Laboratories, 17109 Pt Lena Loop Rd, Juneau, Alaska with service to be scheduled within 3 weeks of time of award. Options for three additional years of service are included. Award for this requirement will be in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 13. Anticipated value will be under the Simplified acquisition procedures with an estimated value of less than $150,000.00. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. Interested person may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. It is the Government's belief that only Qiagen can provide services as stated herein. If you feel that your firm possesses the ability to provide these requirements, then you must respond by demonstrating your firm's technical capability to meet these requirements by September 14, 2017. No known potential alternate sources exist which could satisfy these requirement
