Description
This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for services in which the government intends to acquire in accordance with FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisitions Procedures. Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Alaska Fisheries Science Center, Auke Bay Laboratories has a requirement. The objective of this contract is to aquaire a DNA Focused Ultrasonicator for DNA Sampling. This request for a focused-ultrasonicator to shear DNA to a predesignated size in the preparation of next generation DNA sequencing libraries. The ultrasonicator must have the following capabilities and requirements: 1. Able to process a DNA sample ( < 100 ul) in less than 15 minutes to a user selectable size ranging from at least 200 bp to 3 kb. There should be no or minimal instrument set-up time ( < 5 min) necessary to prepare the instrument before use and the resulting DNA must be of quality for next generation DNA sequencing analysis (must include 5 references from United States based laboratories in the peer reviewed literature supporting this use). 2. The equipment must be self-contained and able to fit on a lab bench and be no larger than 2 feet X 2 feet X 2 feet. 3. Must have integrated temperature control for the sample without the need for an external chiller or ice unit. 4. Operate in a manner without direct contact with the DNA sample to minimize any potential source of contamination 5. Must operate on 120V power at room temperature 6. Must operate in a quiet manner with a sound shield so that users in the laboratory can safely work without ear protection 7. Must be easy to program and use with downloadable or installed standard routines for preparing DNA for size selection during the preparation of next-generation DNA sequencing libraries. 8. The unit should contain all required equipment, accessories, software, cords, etc for its safe use to accomplish the requirements identified above. 9. The unit should include 1 year warranty including all parts and labor. See attached Statement of Work for more information. All interested concerns must submit a quotation and documentation demonstrating the qualifications to provide services as described above within fifteen (15) days of the publication date of this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation, quotations are being requested and a written solicitation has been issued. A firm-fixed order is anticipated to be issued in September 2017.
