Description
Based on market research (both Forest Service and Bureau Of Reclamation), field trials/demonstrations) (BOR and FS) and comparison of products, the Envirosight Rovver X is the system which meets the FS requirements. Portability is a critical requirement. The weight of the Envirosight reel with 1000 feet of cable is under 100 pounds. The other available reels with 1000 feet of cable are over 200 pounds. The Envirosight camera and tractor are also lighter than others. The Envirosight has the most standard features and would actually be cheaper Entire unit is portable/removable from truck with reel and cable under 100 pounds. This alone makes this the superior system for the FS requirements. Crawler weight matches cable weight. Crawler body is made out of a single aluminum block, with stainless steel parts. Reduced weight eliminates the need for a crane to lift in and out of pipes (also helps with operator safety and injury prevention.) The camera operating system is software driven. This allows for infinite upgradeability over time. All updates and many future features (ie. gas monitoring, remote diagnostics, new laser measurement tools etc.) are provided at no additional charge. This keeps the system from becoming outdated after purchasing. It has the only truly synchronized, fully automatic cable reel available. Cable dispenses and rewinds simultaneously with the travel of the crawler. The crawler experiences less resistance and is not required to work as hard. Other systems require the crawler to pull cable off the cable reel requiring more friction, shortening distances the crawler can reach and requiring additional personnel to feed the cable out. Also the cable reel on other systems is used to drag the crawler backwards upon retrieval, which can cause damage. The inspection system controller is water & shock resistant and capable of the following functions with no need for additional devices or additional inspection software. The system has an electronic clutch. The clutch automatically disengages upon loss of power to allow safe retrieval of the crawler and camera in neutral. On other systems with manual clutches the wheels lock up and the crawler must be dragged out, which can cause damage. The system has the ability to add a remote controlled camera lift for large line inspection and to add auxiliary lighting and an additional back‐eye camera. Most other systems use manual lifts or the need for additional software/crawler components to complete this function. The additional back‐eye camera can able to be elevated with the front viewing camera to avoid flow (this is a great feature that is unique to this brand) Cable is a 6 wire Can Bus system connected with a single connector with 1000 pound break strength. The cable is PVC coated (to reduce friction) and is Kevlar. Other brands have stronger cables but they are much larger and heavier. A) Steerable crawler that crawls in and crawls back out. Power to all six wheels. B) Large eye, color back up camera so you can see obstacles as you back out and so operator won't run over and damage cable. C) Currently, 6 laser measurement tools built in for measuring defects in pipe (similar free tools/features likely in future updates.) D) Quick change wheels with no tools required or parts to lose. E) Shortest length crawler on the market, ideal for getting into pipes without much access. Can crawl over 1 1/2" offsets in 8" pipe. F) Simultaneously steer and forward/backward movement (proportional steer and direction) WinCan VX software is included at no additional cost. This software allows you keep track of and integrate all completed reports, problem areas, and complete line coverage with video or snapshots of each segment.
