Description
The Government is seeking potential sources for lithium ion rechargeable batteries used on the AN/PRQ-7 Combat Survivor/Evader Locator (CSEL) radio. The battery is the BB-2001A/U, NSN 6140-01-534-3856. This battery is required to undergo First Article Testing (including Boeing AN/PRQ-7 Functional Testing) and NAVSEA S9310-AQ-SAF-010 certification. Note: The batteries are described by performance specifications with distribution limited as follows, and will be made available to DoD Contractors during the solicitation. "DISTRIBUTION STATEMENT D: Distribution authorized to the DoD and DoD Contractors only (Administrative or Operational Use) (April 2008). Other requests shall be referred to Electronic Systems Center (ESC), Air Force Material Command, USAF, 50 Griffiss Street, Hanscom AFB, MA 01731-1620 (Code ESC/NI)." Company: Address: Point of Contact: Phone Number: Fax Numbers: Email Address: CAGE Code: DUNS Number: 3) Has your Company performed manufacturing and/or supplying of BB-2001A/A batteries or similar type effort in the past, if so provide Contract Number, Point of Contact (POC), e-mail address, phone number, and a brief description of your direct support of the effort? 4) Describe the qualifications of your engineering staff, who have experience in the design and production of military grade rechargeable lithium ion batteries. 5) Describe your company's experience in identifying the test equipment for testing lithium ion batteries used on military radios similar to CSEL. 6) Describe your company's experience in managing obsolescence issues. 7) Does your company maintain a Program and Assessment Tool to monitor and analyze the availability of components to allow clear and precise tracking of all obsolescence issues? If so, please elaborate on the Program and Assessment tool(s). 8) Describe your company's experience in identifying the alternatives for the unavailability of obsolete materials or components to mitigate obsolescence issues. 9) Describe your company's experience in performing and completing First Article Testing (FAT) requirements for military grade lithium ion batteries within a specified timeframe. 10) Discuss your company's capability in meeting US Government contracting delivery requirements. 11) Please provide production lead time, production capacity by month, surge capacity as they relate to the BB-2001A/U. 12) Please provide ranges for price breaks, if applicable, or any other information that could affect the acquisition, supply and delivery of the parts This Request for Information (RFI) is for planning and market research purposes only, and shall not be construed as a commitment by the Government. The information gathered from this announcement will be used to determine if responsible sources exist, and to assist in determining if this effort can be competitive and/or set aside for Small Business. Furthermore, the Government will use the information, in part, to determine the best acquisition strategy for a potential procurement action and to assist in making future acquisition strategy decisions. This is NOT a Request for Quote or Proposal. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI or reimburse any costs associated with the preparation of responses to this RFI.
