- Description
- SUBJECT: Market research is being conducted to identify potential sources that may possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience to meet the requirements for qualification and production of the NSN 1005-01-523-6199GC. ITEM DESCRIPTION NSN - 1005-01-523-6199GC - Machine Gun Cradle provides supports and attaches the GAU-18/A (Modified) to the aircraft mounting system. The components that comprise the cradle assembly are described in the following paragraphs. The cradle assembly supports and attaches the GAU-18/A (Modified) to the aircraft mounting system. The components that comprise the cradle assembly are described in the following paragraphs. Shock Absorber Assembly. The shock absorber assembly consists of dual hydraulic shock absorbers that provide recoil load reduction and gun stability during firing. Grip Assembly. The grip assembly mounts to the aft end of the cradle and consists of dual handgrips with trigger switches for firing the weapon, and rocker switches for control of laser and ICS. The Gun Control Unit mounts at the base of the grip assembly, and provides an ARM switch and ARM indicator light. Rigid Spent Brass Chute. The brass chute mounts to the base of the cradle assembly, and serves to direct spent cartridges overboard via a flexible hose attached at the bottom of the chute. The brass chute also provides an attaching point for the link ejection chute to direct spent links overboard. Yoke Assembly. The yoke assembly attaches the cradle assembly to the pintle post, which is part of the aircraft mounting system. The yoke consists of dual arms with dual forks for maximum stiffness/minimum deflection during gun firing. The yoke assembly provides depression and elevation field-of-fire stops, and interacts with a wear plate on the pintle post to limit azimuth field-of-fire. The yoke also provides the capability for locking the weapon in fixed-forward fire. Impediment to Competition: The original equipment manufacturer for this item is Contract Fabrication and Design (CAGE : 0DZR6 ), which maintains its configuration by part number and software version. The Government does not own any data, drawings, schematics, or any other releasable technical data in support of this requirement. As a result, Contract Fabrication and Design is the only known source with adequate knowledge of the Machine Gun Cradle's performance requirements and possession of the required technical data and capabilities needed to produce this item and ensure compatibility of the equipment. INTEREST The DLA/AWB Contracting Office intends to award a sole source contract to Contract Fabrication for the manufacture of the Machine Gun Cradle in support of the HH-60G helicopter. Other interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement no later than 25 September 2017 to Rhonda L Hurst, ( rhonda.hurst@us.af.mil ) and/or dla.dlr.proc@us.af.mil. The Government intends to procure these items using Other Than Full and Open Competition as prescribed by FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements.
