Description
Synthetic Training Environment (STE) Industry Hour Session Announcement 1. This Special Notice is for informational and planning purposes only and shall not be considered as an invitation for bid, request for quotation, request for proposal, or as an obligation on the part of the Government to acquire any products or services. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect cost or changes by the Government will arise as a result of contractor participation in the Synthetic Training Environment (STE) informational Industry Update 2. Receipt of this or any other documentation does not constitute a guarantee of involvement. This document and any other associated read ahead package(s) represent a summary outline of the STE Industry update activities and is not a legal binding contract, guarantee of contract, or guarantee of future involvement. 3. The TRADOC Capability Manager Integrated Training Environment, under the guidance of Combined Arms Center for Training (CAC-T), Ft Leavenworth, Kansas will conduct an informational STE Industry Update on 16 November 2017. This will be a virtual update, no physical attendance required. Phone bridge numbers will be provided in a separate announcement. 4. Participation is open to industry and academia. Participants need to indicate their desire to participate via email to the Synthetic Training Environment (STE) Cross Functional Team (CFT) NLT 14 November. 5. The purpose of this update is to provide industry and academia partners an update on the Synthetic Training Environment Capability Development Cycle 1, update on the establishment of the STE CFT, announcement of a follow-on Industry Day in January covering the Squad Immersive Virtual Trainer or (SiVT). 6. The Synthetic Training Environment (STE) is the next generation simulation training program that will modernize the way the Army will train the Force in 2020 and beyond. The goal of the STE is to revolutionize training and build Army readiness. It will provide the needed capabilities to train from squad to brigade and above in a multi-domain environment, in training events that combine live and simulation training at locations across the world, wherever the operational force needs a training capability. From mission command training at the BCT level and above, down to combined arms virtual training at the company and battalion level, the STE will enable Army units and leaders to conduct high quality, high repetition, realistic collective training with minimal overhead. The STE will support training for all warfighting functions, represent the full operational environment (i.e. land, air, maritime, space, cyber), to include the social, cognitive and physical elements of the Human Dimension. The STE will use and open architecture concept. 7. It is anticipated that the STE training capability will be delivered incrementally over a period of time from FY18 to FY26. The program will be managed by the TRADOC Capability Manager Integrated Training Environment, under the Combined Arms Center for Training (CAC-T) in Leavenworth, Kansas. The STE program will allow Industry, Academia and Government Research Labs partners' opportunities to influence the future concepts and requirements for STE. The STE CFT plans to involve Industry/Academia partners in an early prototyping and demonstrations of emerging technologies as well as the development of new STE standards and interfaces. 8. The STE CFT Industry day public website will provide additional details, agendas and read ahead material; check back periodically to obtain this information. Army Contracting Command-Orlando (ACC-ORL) will also host the aforementioned VTC session on 16 November 2017 from 1000 - 1130 (Eastern) for interested industry and academia partners. The location will be Partnership III, Room 321, 3039 Technology Parkway, Orlando, FL 32826. Sign-in procedures/requirements will be the same as the monthly ACC-ORL PALT Sessions. 12. Frequently Asked Questions: 1. When will the solicitation for this effort be posted? No solicitation exists at this time; therefore do NOT request a copy of the solicitation. Continue to monitor the Federal Business Opportunities website at www.fbo.gov for future postings relative to this effort. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Industry Stakeholders, In response to Industry's continued requests to improve communication between Army Contracting Command-Orlando (ACC-ORL), PEO STRI, and Industry stakeholders, the ACC-ORL Executive Director/Principal Assistant Responsible for Contracting (PARC), Mr. Joseph A. Giunta, Jr., will continue hosting monthly Procurement Administrative Lead Time (PALT) update sessions open to Industry participants intending to pursue contracts and/or business with the U.S. Government. For planning purposes, the remaining CY 2017 dates are as follows: Remaining CY 2017 Session Dates: 14 November 2017 No session in December 2017 All sessions will be held in the following location: Partnership III Building, Conference Room 321, 0900-1000 3039 Technology Parkway Orlando, FL 32826 RSVP: Not required. However, attendees must furnish I.D. and sign in before entering the session. Each PALT update session will provide Industry the opportunity to request updates on specific procurements of interest in a Question & Answer (Q&A) type forum. There will not be a formal agenda, but rather an open Q&A session not to exceed 60 minutes. It will be up to Industry representatives to request an update on specific procurements of interest. Information to be provided by the Government will be limited to status updates pertaining to specific procurements. The Government will not provide any procurement sensitive information that would violate the integrity of the source selection process. Although minutes/notes for each session will not be provided, a document library has been created on the ACC-ORL Business Opportunities Portal (a.k.a. STRIBOP) for posting of miscellaneous briefings/presentations that may be provided during the PALT update sessions. IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING PARKING: Due to limited parking in the Partnership II/III parking lot, all visitors MUST park in the large parking lot on the corner of Science Drive and Technology Parkway. The Partnership II/III parking lot is authorized parking for occupants only. Also, DO NOT PARK IN THE AT&T PARKING LOT AS YOUR CAR WILL BE SUBJECT TO BEING TOWED.
