DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS VETERANS INTEGRATED SERVICE NETWORK (VISN) 16 MICHAEL E. DEBAKEY VA MEDICAL CENTER (VAMC), HOUSTON, TEXAS REQUEST FOR INFORMATION 36C25618Q9118 BACKGROUND: The Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center has a requirement services for Annual Inspection and Certification of: fifty-three (53) biological safety cabinets (BCS), forty-five (45) chemical fume hoods (CFHs), seven (7) mobile bench top (CFH) units, and four (4) grossing stations; and Semi-Annual Inspection and Certification of Pharmacy Biological Safety Cabinets and clean rooms to include particle counts per USP 797and 800, two (2) Cleanroom Testing Compounding Rooms, two (2) Cleanroom Testing Ante Rooms, eight (8) LAWF s, six (6), Bacterial Sampling w/I.D., twelve (12), Fungi Air Sampling Per Location, twelve (12) Bacterial and Fungal Surface Sampling, four (4) IV robots, five (5) glove box/isolators All BSCs, LAFWs, CAIs and CACIs shall be tested to NSF 49 (BSCs), CETA CAG-002-2006 (isolators) specifications and/or manufacturer specifications to include any additional USP 797 and 800 viable and nonviable particle testing. All BSCs will be tested to National Sanitation Foundation/ American National standards Institute (NSF/ANSI) Standard 49-2009, Annex F. This standard covers field certification of (laminar flow) Class II Biological Safety Cabinets.
