Description
General Scope The Contractor shall supply new thrust bearing springs for units 1, 2, 3, 4,and 5 at Wolf Creek Powerhouse. In so much as practicable and in conformance with specifications, the springs shall be identical to units 4 and 6 at Wolf Creek Powerhouse. The Government will provide spare springs from units 4 and 6 to the Contractor for this purpose. The Government will perform installation of the thrust bearing springs, disassembly of units, and assembly of units. The Government purchased new high pressure lift systems will work with the newly refurbished thrust bearing shoes and new springs from a separate contract. High pressure lift systems are currently onsite waiting to be installed by the Government. Thrust bearing shoes refurbishment and modification services shall be under a separate contract. Details regarding the high pressure lift systems and shoes are shown on the drawings for information only. System Description The thrust bearing consists of 12 steel-backed babbitt segments or shoes. The babbitt is of a tin base. For the purposes of this Specification, one "set" consists of 12 shoes. One "set" of springs consists of enough springs to support all 12 shoes for one unit. Each shoe requires 53 springs, thus each set of springs contains six-hundred-thirty-six (636) springs. Contractor shall verify the number of springs required. Each spring assembly requires a spring, upper keeper plate, threaded lower keeper plate, and a threaded bolt. Dimensions, fits, and estimated weights are provided for information only. The Contractor shall use the spare springs provided from units 4 and 6 to verify the dimensions, fits, and estimated weights provided in the solicitation package.
