Description
REQUEST FOR INFORMATION/SOURCES SOUGHT INQUIREY ONLY The USGS Sacramento OAG is seeking information from potential small business sources that are capable of providing Extraction, preparation, analysis, and synthesis of fish otoliths. Work will include microstructural analysis for fish ageing and microchemical analyses to determine fish habitat use. Whole fish or fish heads will be provided by USGS from which the contractor can extract, prep and analyze the otoliths. All other necessary supplies and materials required for the work will be provided by the contractors. Microchemical analyses will include laser ablation inductively coupled mass spectrometry, synchrotron x-ray fluorescence, and other techniques as necessary. PLACE OF PERFORMANCE: Contractor ¿s laboratory QUALIFICATIONS: Contractor shall demonstrate the following requirements: (1)Extensive experience with otolith microstructural analysis of native California fishes, and; (2)Extensive experience with otolith microchemical analysis of native California fishes, and; (3)Access and operation of a laser ablation inductively coupled mass spectrometry (LAICPMS) lab, and; (4)Analysis and interpretation of LAICPMS data of the otolith of native California native fishes, and; (5)Access and operation credential of a National Science Foundation-supported work station at the Cornell High Energy Synchrotron Source (CHESS) Laboratory for conducting x-ray fluorescence imaging of the chemical composition of fish otoliths, and; (6)Methods developed for conducting x-ray fluorescence imaging of the chemical composition of the otoliths of native California fishes at the CHESS laboratory, and; (7)Experience with the processing, analysis and interpretation of synchrotron x-ray fluorescence data of the otolith of native California native fishes. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. However, interested parties who believe they can meet the requirements may submit in writing complete information describing their ability to provide the services as detailed above. Responses may only be sent via e-mail Joseph Riccomini at jriccomini@usgs.gov. Information received as a result of this notice will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement in the future. Submission of information does not guarantee this requirement to become a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government to open the requirement to full and open competition, based on response to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government. All submissions shall be submitted to the Government no later than 22 Feb 2018 at 1200 PM PDT. Late submissions of interest will not be considered for this procurement, but may be considered for future procurements.
