- Description
- INDUSTRY DAY INFORMATION: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers San Francisco District will be holding an Industry Day meeting on March 19, 2018, to discuss USACE's upcoming solicitation for a major construction project to build the Research and Veterinary Medical Unit Facility, Building 40, at the San Francisco Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in San Francisco, California. The project will involve construction of a 113,000 square foot, four-story steel-framed structure with a glass curtain wall supported by a seismically designed concrete foundation. Interior office and laboratory spaces will involve drywall construction with connecting corridors leading to stairwell exits. A mechanical penthouse located on the roof of the structure will provide the climate control for the facility. A new 3,000 square foot below-grade corridor will be constructed to connect to an adjacent veterinary facility. The project will also require demolition to remove the existing water tower adjacent to the site and removal of a small E-85 above ground fuel distribution system. Four (4) underground water storage tanks will also be installed an existing parking lot. One water storage tank will be connected to the fire protection delivery system. Because this project is designated a mission critical facility, an emergency generator and an associated below-grade fuel storage supply tank will be added. New fill, asphalt and base course will replace the portion of the existing parking lot removed by the installation of the underground water storage tanks. Work will follow U.S. Army Corps of Engineers processes and requirements. The estimated cost range of the project is $100,000,000.00 to $250,000,000.00. Location: San Francisco VA Medical Center, 4150 Clement Street, Building 7, 1st Floor (not ground floor), Room 112 Time/Date: 0900-1300, 19 March 2018 Parking: USS San Francisco memorial parking lot at the end of El Camino Del Mar (about a 10 minute walk from Building 7) For planning and logistical purposes, contractors interested in participating will need to RSVP by submitting your company name, address, and the names to James.E.Garror@usace.army.mil, and Richard.A.Smith780.mil@mail.mil no later than 12 March 2018. COMMENTS ON DRAFT SPECIFICATIONS AND DRAWINGS REQUESTED: Additionally, the San Francisco District is soliciting feedback from industry as part in an effort to improve the quality of our specifications and drawings associated with this acquisition. Although the design is not complete, for informational purposes the Government will provide interested contractors with a draft copy of the specifications and drawings of the proposed project for review and comment. If you are interested in receiving a copy of the Draft Specifications and Plans, please send an email to Jame.E.Garror@usace.army.mil, and Richard.A.Smith780.mil@mail.mil. USACE is interested in your written comments on the draft specifications and drawings. Please limit your response to ten (10) pages. To be given consideration by USACE, your comments must include your organization name, address, email address, website address, telephone number, business size (small or large) and type of ownership; please also include the organization's DUNS number and CAGE code. Please send your response via email to James.E.Garror@usace.army.mil, or Richard.A.Smith780.mil@mail.mil. Submission should be received by 10:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time, April 16, 2018. Responses may also be hand delivered to James Garror at the Industry Day location. This information is for market research purposes only and IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL (RFP) nor does it restrict the Government as to the ultimate acquisition approach. The Government will not reimburse respondents for any costs incurred in preparation of a response to this notice.
